A team of Tamenglong District Forest Department visited the spot where a suspected tiger mauled a herd of cows at Kuilong Part II under Tamei Subdivision.

The team installed four camera traps to capture the image of the animal. District Forest Officer (DFO) K Hitler and Tamei Range Officer (RO) Johnson led the team and rushed to the spot on Saturday.

Speaking to media persons, DFO K Hitler informed that four camera traps were installed where the pugmarks were found and the surrounding area. He mentioned that camera traps may be kept even a month if it fails to capture the picture of the animal in a short period of time.

He also said that the personal data of the owners of the dead cows have been collected for compensation.

On July 6, a suspected tiger preyed on three cows at Kuilong village, Tamenglong district. The incident had forced hapless villagers not to venture out of their houses after sunset.
