On the occasion of the 77th birth anniversary of Chingsubam Akaba, well wishers and family members paid floral tribute to the statue of the late influential figure on Tuesday at Leimaching, Wakha, Imphal East.

WMA president Moirangthem Naokhomba remembered Akaba as someone who worked tirelessly for peaceful coexistence amongst the different communities of the state. Akaba also played a crucial role for the revival of the Manipuri script till his last breath, he added.
As a part of the occasion, WMA also presented gifts to those who had worked closely with the late leader in the field of culture, language, and other important social issues — Moirangthem Naodalenkhomba of STDCM, former minister RV Mingthing, Tokpam Thawailemba, advocate Ngangom Premkumar, Sairem Nilbir, late Kuleshwar, and Dr Thoudam Laiba.
