The campaign aims to address vaccine hesitancy among the people along with the adoption of COVID appropriate behaviour by the public. Sputum collection and testing will be done based on symptoms through an active case finding campaign of potential TB patients at the village level and will cover 6 Blocks under Ukhrul and Kamjong Districts.

To break the chain of the spread of COVID and TB infection, Piramal Swathya in collaboration with Ministry of Health and Tribal Affair, supported by United State Agency for International Development (USAID), A 100 days -100 districts campaign “Aashwasan” was launched on Wednesday by WHO- NTEP Consultant Manipur, Dr. N. Robinchandra Singh at Ukhrul Headquarters on Wednesday.
District TB Officer of Ukhrul, Dr. Hongprachan Hungyo informed that “ASHA Workers together with Piramal Swasthya Management and Research Institute (Anamaya) will conduct an awareness campaign regarding COVID through mobile vehicles in all the 6 blocks of Ukhrul and Kamjong Districts and also address the misconceptions regarding COVID and TB infection.
“The campaign aims to address vaccine hesitancy among the people along with the adoption of COVID appropriate behaviour by the public.
Sputum collection and testing will be done based on symptoms through an active case finding campaign of potential TB patients at the village level and TB treatment will be provided free of cost by the government upon confirmation of the disease.”
Under this campaign people will not go to the government health centres for testing, rather the sputum of presumptive cases will be collected from home and transported to the nearest diagnostic centres for testing added Dr. Hungyo.
The campaign will cover six blocks – Ukhrul, Chingai, Kamjong, Sahamphung, Phungyar and Kasom Khullen. The flagged off programme was also attended by Dr. Kaushal Sahu and health workers from different Blocks.
