Ukhrul: MHS Doctors’ Association Stage Sit-In-Protest

Despite the association’s repeated approaches to resolve the pending issues and demands, the silence of the government have compelled them to protest, resorting to extreme form of democratic agitation.

The doctors of Ukhrul District joined hands with All Manipur Health Services Doctors’ Association (AMHSDA) in support for the Association’s charter of demand for their common welfare.

The doctors donned black badges while on their duty to show their discontentment and staged sit-in protest from Friday at the front gate of Ukhrul District Hospital, Hungpung, Ukhrul.

During the protest, the doctors expressed their grievances and further alleged that the state government was having a lackadaisical attitude towards them. Despite the association’s repeated approaches to resolve the pending issues and demands, the silence of the government have compelled them to resort into extreme form of democratic agitation.

Their demands are: time bound promotion, enhancement of superannuation age to 65 years as declared by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, creation of Director General post and under: a) Director Health Services b) Director Family Welfare Services c) Director Public Health d) Director Medical Education, NPA fixation with effect from 01/01/2016 as per 7th Central Pay Commission. Abide strictly the Transfer and Posting Policy of Health Services 2017, any MHS Doctors be eligible to the highest post by virtue of their seniority, Implementation of proposed MHS Rules 2020 and Amendments and provision of risks and difficult area posting allowances.

Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) which is under Manipur Government has been granted 7th Central Pay Commission. However, the Manipur Health Services Doctor are being sidelined and denied the same facilities.

The protesting doctors in Ukhrul District also expressed their commitment and resolved to support any further course of action decided by the AMHSDA in case the State Government fails to fulfill the charter of demands.
