To serve the people in a different platform, incumbent president of Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) Hopingson A Shimray tendered his resignation from the post on Wednesday.
A close aide of Hopingson A Shimray told this correspondent that “the resignation letter was submitted on Wednesday in order to prepare for contesting in the forthcoming Manipur State General Election 2022 from 43-Phungyar Assembly Constituency.”
Hopingson A Shimray took voluntary retirement from his service in 2016. He cleared the combined civil service examination in 1988 and joined the Indian Railways Account Service (IRAS). He retired as Financial Advisor and Chief Account Officer (F&B) Headquarters Guwahati. He also cleared Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) exam and served as Sub-Deputy Collector (SDC) from 1984 till 1989.
Hopingson A Shimray was elected unopposed as TNL president in 2018. Today he has submitted his resignation to TNL vice president so as to prepare for contesting in the upcoming Manipur State General Election 2022.
