As part of the commemorations of 75 years of India’s Independence, Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul Joseph Pauline Kamsom launched the “Swachhata Hi Seva 2021” at DRDA Hall, Mini Secretariat Complex, Ukhrul on Wednesday. The launch event was organised by the PHED Ukhrul Division.
At the programme, Joseph Pauline Kamsom stated that “alternative to one time use of plastic carry bags is necessary since plastic is hazardous to health and environment. This very day once again reminds us to continue and keep our surroundings clean and healthy.” He asserted that “Cleanliness of one’s mind, body and surroundings is the need of the hour.”
Two NGOs — UDWIM and ENFOGAL — will be the partner for Jal Jeevan Mission and Implementing Support Agency (ASI). Two localities from Ukhrul Headquarters Khuilungtang and Meizailung were awarded with appreciation certificates for keeping their locality clean.
Ukhrul District was declared open-defecation free in 2018. Cleanliness is Service or Swachhata Hi Seva 2021 in Ukhrul District will continue till October 2, 2021.
