La Ganesan attended the award ceremony of the Hornbill Run being held as part of the 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival at Sovima, Chumoukedima. He extended his gratitude, to the Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA), for organizing such a kind of remarkable event.

Nagaland governor La Ganesan on Monday categorically said that sport fosters spirit of friendship and competitive excellence within the minds of the youths.
He said this while attending the award ceremony of the 4th edition of the Great Hornbill Run being held as part of the 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival at Sovima, Chumoukedima.
Extending his heartfelt gratitude, to the Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA), for organizing such a kind of remarkable event, he said sporting event not only highlights the “exuberance” of athletics but also aimed to foster a spirit of friendship and competitive excellence amongst the young athletes.
He also mentioned that the stage has been put up where the domestic and international participants could converge together in order to serve as a “field of dreams” and a testament to the unifying power of sports.
Acknowledging the dedication, discipline, and the relentless pursuit of excellence of all athletes who have participated, the Nagaland governor also went on to add that the sporting event is more than a race but a bridge connecting cultures, and also a platform encouraging the young minds or the youth.
Stating that the Nagaland state government endeavors to nurture “talents” from the grassroots, Ganesan furthered that “Run” which was an open competition encouraged the young athletes to rise and shine while emphasizing the vital role being played into physical and mental well-beings.
He also took the opportunity in commending that the Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA) have provided exceptional contributions to the Naga society which have not gone unnoticed citing examples of hosting the South Asia Cross Country Championship in 2022 in which the Nagaland women’s team were placed in the second position in the national category.
Moreover, being awarded the best association in the year 2022, conferred by the Nagaland government, Nagaland governor, La Ganesan, stated that it is a true reflection of dedication and attaining the highest medal count with impressive medals during the 2nd North East Olympics Games in Meghalaya was a feat that fills Nagaland with pride.
He further went on to add that as one celebrates the “spirit of competition and unity”, together, one must also acknowledge the power of sports in shaping own communities.
The programme was chaired by chairperson and treasurer, NAA, Neingulie Nakhro.
President (NAA), Abu Metha, general manager and zonal head, NES Zone, Guwahati, Tshering Bhutia, convener, technical committee, Bithungo Kikon, and chairman, Sovima Village Council, Sebastian Zumvu, also shared their views.
