Sadar Hills District Congress Committee held a ground clearing meeting on Tuesday while felicitating Ngamkhohen Kipgen on being appointed as the general secretary of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee.
The felicitation of Ngamkhohen Kipgen, the new MPCC general secretary was held in the presence of MPCC co-opted member Lamtinthang Haokip, District Congress Committee president Zilthang Touthang, chairman of ST Kishan Morcha, executive members of DCC, block presidents of 51-Saitu and 50-Kangpokpi.

Zilthang Touthang also stressed on the need to expedite the process to revive the party at the district level and also at all the three blocks — 46-Saikul, 50-Kangpokpi and 51-Saitu.
He further stressed on the need to convene a trilateral meeting at the earliest of the three blocks to discuss in length on how to strengthen the party, right from the grass root level to the district level.
The newly appointed MPCC general secretary N Kipgen, who in recent years retired from his public service, assured the members that he will be delighted to extend all possible help to revive the party both in his individual capacity and as an executive member of PCC.
He also elaborated on his inclination with the Congress party’s ideologies and principle and his close association with the longstanding members of the Congress party.
Lamtinthang Haokip, an ex-candidate of the recently concluded 51-Saitu by-election emphasised on the need to streamline the organisational structure right from the district to the booth level so as to enhance the smooth functioning of the party at various levels.
He also emphasised on bridging the minds and ideas of young and old Congress workers to bring together all their different levels of experience and knowledge in strengthening the party at district level and the state at large.
