In another major development, a crucial meeting was held Friday morning at the residence of Jorapukhuri Council Chairman, Purana Bazaar, East Dimapur, Hokiye Shikhu. The meeting was attended by 27 representatives from various civil bodies following a letter received from GPRN/NSCN, Memo No. 1/MKA-NOTEN/2025, dated March 31.

In this regard, the Purana Bazaar Tribal Council (PBTC) held a closed-door meeting to discuss public safety and peace within its jurisdiction.

After thorough deliberation, the house unanimously decided to extend non-cooperation to any individuals or organizations causing disturbances to public safety, peace, and harmony under the jurisdiction of East Dimapur.

According to Tohoshe Awomi, Chairman, Tribal Council Purana Bazaar, the letter received from the Secretary (Kilo/Home), GPRN/NSCN, Daniel Gangte, stated that the “Cease Monitoring” office of the GPRN/NSCN (Unification) at Jorapukhuri, Purana Bazaar, lies within the jurisdiction of the East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) and has been under “siege” by an opposing force since March 22.

He said the letter further mentioned that the situation called for serious intervention and the rightful “re-possession” of the office. There is reportedly a high possibility of confrontation, which may jeopardize public safety and tranquillity in the area. To prevent the situation from escalating, the GPRN/NSCN urged colony chairmen, GBs, and councillors of East Dimapur Council to take immediate remedial measures by evacuating the office until the matter is brought under control.

The meeting was attended by all GBs of Purana Bazaar, colony chairmen, elders, and others, including TCPB Secretary Suraj Pradhan.
