Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Wednesday voiced its concern against educational institutions making Covid-19 vaccination compulsory for students to attend classes or appear in examinations.

NSF in a press statement jointly issued its President, Kegwayhun Tep, and Education Secretary, Medovi Rhi, said that it was unbecoming of these authorities as vaccination should be taken with the “free will” and clear conscience of the receiver and not forced upon.

Stating that the federation was receiving many complaints against such institutions, the NSF officials, however said it placed on record that it was not against COVID-19 vaccine but forcing the same upon the students was not the right way forward.

The leaders further said that such dictatorial practices were the cause of great “mental and emotional stress” to the young students, and appealed to the authorities concerned to refrain from such practices.

The federation has also appealed to the students’ community to exercise prudence and ensure that all COVID-19 SOPs are followed in total in their everyday dealings while also asserting that vaccine hesitancy has to be done away with.
