The NSCN (I-M) has commended the Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) for their vigilance in exposing alleged collusion between the Assam Rifles and Kuki militant groups. In a press release dated February 25, 2025, the NSCN praised the SDSA for their “duty-bound responsibility” in monitoring suspicious activities within Naga jurisdiction.

The commendation follows an incident on the night of February 22, 2025, where members of the SDSA reportedly observed Assam Rifles personnel escorting members of the Kuki National Front (P), led by General Secretary Aron Kipgen. NSCN (I-M) said it is just another incident that AR were caught red-handed for their unethical conduct.

Maintaining that Assam Rifles were caught on the wrong foot, the NSCN saluted SDSA and said, “Such work at odd hours is quite exemplary, staying alert and making the Naga areas safer from intrusion by anti-Naga elements in collusion with the ubiquitous Assam Rifles (AR).”

It further said that SDSA is watchful enough to keep their vigilant eyes and seized every passing opportunity to report anything suspicious and expose the truth. They did the right job daring to question the Assam Rifles’ Director General and demean him for his lack of integrity.

It described the incident as evidence of the Assam Rifles’ “unholy nexus” with Kuki militants, accusing them of providing logistical support and facilitating illegal movements.

Claiming that so many Kuki militants from Kangpokpi, Churachandpur and other parts of Manipur continues to die in Myanmar as KNA(B) cadres, even in Kachin land, the statement alleged that the Assam Rifles provide them all types of ammunition to the Kuki militants and facilitating them to cross the border to reach the battlefields.

The NSCN(IM)’s allegations are part of a broader narrative concerning the Assam Rifles’ role in the region. Recent reports have highlighted operations where the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Indian Army, have seized weapons and arrested militants in Manipur. However, the NSCN(IM) contends that such actions are overshadowed by instances of collusion, as evidenced by the February 22 incident.

The SDSA has also been vocal about these concerns, accusing the Assam Rifles of facilitating militant movements in Manipur. Their proactive stance has been acknowledged by the NSCN(IM), which urges continued vigilance against activities undermining regional security.

These developments occur amidst ongoing tensions in the region, with various groups calling for transparency and accountability from security forces operating in Naga areas.
