Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has called for the unity of the Nagas to build a vibrant society and said Nagas need to start afresh as one family, with no animosity against one another so as to live harmoniously in the society.
Rio said this while addressing the gathering at the inaugural session of the Platinum Jubilee celebration of the Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) in Phek town on February 15.
Grateful to Chakhesang Students' Union for inviting me to their Platinum Jubilee celebration. It is an occasion to acknowledge the pioneers who had a vision and also the past and present office bearers who led the Union this far. My best wishes for a successful celebration. pic.twitter.com/ezdT01iCez

The Chief Minister maintained that the state was due to face the general election in early part of 2023, and many candidates were preparing hard while the people were also looking forward to it.
Rio however said that instead of election he is looking forward to a solution to the protracted Naga political problem.
He said unless there is a settlement, there is no perfect peace in our land and there is no peace of mind and stressed on the need to rearrange the whole state and also change mindset to become a better society and survive as a people.
He maintained that he wants a solution because it will bring a new hope for the youth, the students and for the future.
Rio also said that the Centre is willing to give more seats in Parliament and in the State Assembly to resolve the decades-old Naga political issue for which he said justice could be done with equal proportionate representation to the assembly.
OTING INCIDENT ‘most unfortunate’
Terming the Oting incident in December last year where 14 civilians were killed in a case of mistaken identity was “most unfortunate”, the Chief Minister said that the Government and the public are demanding for repeal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA).
Rio said also added for the first time, Government of India and the Army admitted their mistakes and there is a public hue and cry, for repeal of AFSPA.
