Mood of the Nation Survey: 39 Percent of Manipur satisfied with CM Biren’s performance, 33 Percent unsatisfied

Mood of the Nation survey also asked the opinion of the samples on the unemployment situation. A whopping 80 percent in Manipur said that it was “serious”, while 10 percent said it was “not serious” and 6 percent were “neutral”.

The latest Mood of the Nation survey conducted by the India Today Group has thrown up some interesting figures for the five poll bound states, just weeks ahead of the voting process begins, especially regarding the performance of the chief ministers of these states.

According to the survey, 39 percent of the people of Manipur that were surveyed are satisfied with the performance of chief minister N Biren Singh, and 33 percent are unsatisfied. 28 percent of the people are “somewhat satisfied” with CM Biren.

Amongst the five chief ministers, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath had the highest rating with 49 percent of the people satisfied with his performance.

Mood of the Nation survey also asked the opinion of the samples on the unemployment situation. A whopping 80 percent in Manipur said that it was “serious”, while 10 percent said it was “not serious” and 6 percent were “neutral”.

While 20 percent of the people surveyed in Manipur said that their economic status has “improved” since 2014, 35 percent said that it has “deteriorated”. 41 percent said that it has not changed.

On the other hand, 56 percent of the samples in Manipur said that the central government has done enough to counter the economic fallout due to COVID-19, while 29 percent said that it was not enough.

A whopping 85 percent of the samples in Manipur said that their income has decreased due to COVID-19, and none said that it has improved. 15 percent said that their economic status remained unchanged, as per the survey.

On the performance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 73 percent of the people of Manipur that were surveyed rated it as “good”, while 18 percent rated it as “poor”. 8 percent rated the performance of PM Modi as “average”.

As per the survey, 66 percent of the people surveyed in Manipur rated the performance of the NDA government in centre as satisfactory, against 25 percent unsatisfactory. 8 percent maintained that they were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied.

On the other hand, 41 percent in Manipur rated the role of Congress as the main opposition party as “good”, against 45 percent “poor”. 12 percent thought that it was average, according to the survey.

Although the sample size of Manipur was not mentioned, Rahul Kanwal of India Today said that it was small.

Mood of the Nation is a bi-annual nationwide survey conducted by the India Today Group. The findings of the Mood of the Nation survey are usually released every January and August.
