Cancellation of Manipur University Manipuri Department’s entrance examination for admission to MA first semester on “technical” ground when students were waiting question papers in examination hall for more than one and half hours after filing up OCR sheets on October 17 is beyond institutional ethics, said Meetei Erol Eyek Loina Sillol Apunba Lup (MEELAL) on Tuesday.
At a press conference held at MEELAL office, its general secretary Huirem Loikhomba said last year also, Manipur University Manipuri Department could not conduct the entrance examinations for admission to MA 1st semester following reports of question leak. People would have appreciated if Manipur University initiated steps to keep the system in order and not to rerun last year’s fiasco. Such incident has become frequent occurrences in Manipur University’s Manipuri Department as if there is no one to look after it, he alleged.
Stating that Meelal has received complaints from students of MA 2nd semester about unavailability of books in Meitei Mayek for their study, he said it is serious issue and books not available in Meitei Mayek should not included in M.A Manipuri 2nd semester examination papers.
He also said all the Manipur question papers for examinations must be set by adhering to spelling guideline issued by government. The organization is keeping a close eye on it and Manipur University’s concerned authority will face music if any spelling errors are found in question papers, he added.
He further said intending candidates for 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election were found not using Meitei Mayek in their back drop, banner and poster. He urged them to include Meitei Mayek in all the printed publicity materials to be used in their campaigning.
