Manipur Chief secretary’s team takes stock of violence-hit Kangpokpi district

The visiting team had a thorough discussion on the prevailing situation with the district officials. After the meeting, the team along with the officials of the district administration visited two relief centres – Keithelmanbi High School and DIET Centre, Leikop under Champhai sub-division and interacted with the people taking shelters in these centres.

Manipur Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi along with the Supreme Court appointed three-member committee headed by former Jammu and Kashmir High Court Chief Justice Gita Mittal visited Kangpokpi to take stock of the violence-hit district.
According to a release, the three-member committee also includes former Bombay High Court Judge Shalini Phansalkar Joshi and former Delhi High Court Judge Asha Menon. Supreme Court appointed the three-member committee to oversee relief, rehabilitation and rebuilding measures in Manipur.
The committee members were accorded warm welcome by the officials of the district administration led by Deputy Commissioner, Mahesh Chaudhari at the deputy commissioner office complex, said a report by Waari Singbul Network
The visiting team had a thorough discussion on the prevailing situation with the district officials, the release stated. Further the release continued, after the meeting, the team along with the officials of the district administration visited two relief centres – Keithelmanbi High School and DIET Centre, Leikop under Champhai sub-division and interacted with the people taking shelters in these centres.
More than 500 inmates each are accommodated in these two centres. The team also inspected the under-constructed fabricated houses at Keithelmanbi, more than 150 houses are planned to be constructed, it stated, adding that the committee members also distributed relief items to the inmates at the relief centres.
