Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) and local clubs and Meira Paibi organisations continued their push for re-investigation and re-trial of the 2018 multi-crore drug haul case involving former Chandel ADC chairman Lhukhosei Zou.
On Thursday, sit-in protest was held at Konthoujam Lairembi Leikai Meira Shang, jointly organised by Konthoujam Youth Peace Club, Konthoujam Lairembi Women Welfare Association and CADA against the acquittal of Lhukhosei Zou and six others by an ND&PS court on December 17, 2020, a release said.
Speaking about the issue, CADA vice president Dipanjit Ningthoujam said that although the people honour the court’s judgement they are not content with the manipulation of pieces of evidence and letting off someone who was caught red-handed with a huge amount of drugs. He also urged the government to work honestly to eradicate drugs in order to save future generations.
Konthoujam Youth Peace Club secretary Konthoujam Heramani also put forward his opinion on the issue and urged the government to re-investigate and conduct a re-trial into the case and punish the culprits involved. Slogans were also shouted during the sit-in, the release added.
