Kangpokpi police strictly enforced the ‘total curfew’ in the district on Sunday, while extensive vaccination was also held at various places in the district despite it being a Sunday.
Kangpokpi town wore a deserted look as Kangpokpi police led by Kangpokpi Police Station officer-in-charge inspector Henminthang Kipgen, in collaboration with COVID Task Force Kangpokpi led by its chairman Haolet Khongsai strictly enforced curfew within Kangpokpi town.
All shops were completely closed while the vehicle movement was almost nil as only exempted vehicles were seen moving along the road which was also strictly monitored by the police and CTF Kangpokpi.
Movement of persons was also strictly prohibited by the police and CTF Kangpokpi volunteers within the bazar area as well as in all localities of the town.
Meanwhile, house-to-house testing was conducted at Kangpokpi Ward Number 9 where seven individuals including two children below 7 years were found positive out of 93 individuals tested.
The house-to-house testing led by Dr Sanjeev and Dr Marilyn Songate under the supervision of Kangpokpi District Hospital MS Dr Paotinlal Haokip, was conducted in collaboration with the COVID Task Force Kangpokpi and Kangpokpi police.

Some households were seen locking their gate and eschewing the test. CTF Kangpokpi took the lists of such households to report to the town committee for further necessary action.
In Kangpokpi town alone, 10 positive cases including one at Kangpokpi District Hospital, three in contact tracing at Kangpokpi Ward Number 4 and seven in house-to-house testing at Kangpokpi Ward Number 9 were detected on Sunday.
CTF Kangpokpi volunteers sealed all the residences of the individuals found positive on Sunday and declared it as containment zone apart from the official declaration of the area as a containment zone by the authority concerned.
Mass vaccination was also held at Kholmun veng Ward Number 14 Kangpokpi on Sunday where Kangpokpi Town Committee chairman Lunseh Kipgen and his family and chairman of Ward Number 14 Thangjangam Kholhou also got vaccinated during the vaccination drive.
Kangpokpi Ward Number 14 became the first ward amongst fifteen wards in the town to conduct mass vaccination in the town.
Around 34 beneficiaries from Kholmun and Dulen village were vaccinated during the vaccination drive at Kholmun village Kangpokpi Ward Number 14 while 54 beneficiaries were vaccinated at Mayangkhang Khunou vaccination drive.
With 17 new positive cases detected in the last 24 hours the active in Kangpokpi stands at 159 as 16 COVID patients were cured and discharged on Sunday while the fatality remained at 47.
