With an aim to detect all COVID-19 infected persons, the Manipur government initiated a special drive for house to house COVID testing by sending out mobile teams over and above the contact tracing and testing. On Saturday, house to house testing was conducted at Takyel Khongbal area under Imphal West and Achanbigei area, including Soram Leikai, Imphal East.
Deputy commissioners of respective districts have issued an order to this effect.
Terms and conditions for house to house COVID testing includes —
1. Two members of each household shall be mandatorily tested — One member who moves out of the house and another member preferably a sedentary member who has not moved out of the house.
2. Any member who turns out to be positive in the test, all remaining members of the family or group of family sharing the same boundary (in the Kollup) shall be tested.
3. Houses under active containment may be decided in consultation with the officials.
4. The locals shall identify the families that have not cooperated in the house to house testing for COVID-19 and the list shall be submitted to the respective police team and revenue team.
Meanwhile, the state reported 788 new cases and seven deaths. However, the daily press release by the COVID-19 Common Control Room did not mention the details about the house to house COVID testing drive.
The daily positivity rate stands at 13.24 per cent. The number of active cases is 6,908 (General Population – 6,818 and Central Security Personnel – 90).
Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the majority of new cases with 285 and 190 cases respectively. Tengnoupal, Pherzawl and Kangpokpi reported the lowest new cases with one case each.
In the last 24 hours, the State-Level Covid 19 Deaths Audit Committee reported seven COVID-19 deaths from — Imphal West (3), Imphal East (1), Bishnupur (2) and Kakching (1). They died at RIMS (4), JNIMS (2) and Shija Hospital (1). The cumulative number of deaths stands at 1,258.
On Saturday, 483 persons were discharged from Home Isolation (174), RIMS (15), JNIMS (17), CCCs (167), and CHICS (110). The recovery rate is 89.36 per cent.
The total number of infections in the state has reached 76,820.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1670 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 379 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur.
On Friday, 13,105 individuals were administered the COVID vaccine. The total number of doses administered in the state so far has reached 8,64,482 — 7,71,102 first dose and 93,380 second dose.
As on July 9, 2021, the number of patients admitted or adjusted against available bed strengths in different treatment facilities in the state are RIMS (216/224), JNIMS (203/286), I Land Hospital (36/60), District Covid Facilities (146/332), MSF (22/30), Private Covid Hospitals (216/360) and CCCs (1139/2906). The grand total of admitted patients is 1,978 and the number of beds available is 2,220.
