Following the death of a fifth semester student of Thoubal College, Ningthoujam Rohit (21) by unknown miscreants in a poll related violence at Heirok Part II Mayai Leikai, the district magistrate of Thoubal district has clamped curfew in the entire Heirok Village from 5:00 pm of Thursday.
The prohibitory order under Section 144 Cr. P.C. of 1973 has been imposed in view of the “tense atmosphere” prevailing at Heirok Village and to ensure that no untoward incident occurs in the areas and will continue until further orders.
Thoubal DM A Subhash Singh has issued an order on Thursday to this effect.

Persons who want to take out procession for marriage, funeral and religious purposes etc. within the scheduled area may apply to the district magistrate or superintendent of police Thoubal for permission and they shall not take out procession until the permission is obtained, the order stated.
