Former Nagaland Forest Minister MC Konyak Passes Away

According to family members, his body has been taken to his hometown Wakching, Mon, from where he has been contesting the Nagaland legislative assembly for decades and a funeral will be held.

A veteran politician of Nagaland state, who had transitioned himself from the Congress to the BJP and then to the NDPP, WC Konyak, breathed his last on Sunday morning at Eden Hospital, Dimapur.

According to family members, his body has been taken to his hometown Wakching, Mon, from where he has been contesting the Nagaland legislative assembly for decades and a funeral will be held.

A stalwart, late MC Konyak was a respected member of the BJP representing 46 Mongoya constituency in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

Having been born and brought up in Nagaland’s land of the Anghs, in his formative years, late Konyak pursued his education and obtained a degree and later made his foray into politics.

He contested the 46-Mongoya constituency under the BJP banner and his victory marked the beginning of his tenure as representative of 46-Mongoya A/C.

As a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), late Konyak made notable contributions to society especially to his constituency despite facing many challenges keeping in mind his strong commitment towards public service enabling him to overcome obstacles and fulfill his responsibilities as a representative.

Nagaland chief minister condoles MC Konyak’s demise

Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio, has expressed his pain over the demise of former minister, MC Konyak Sunday morning in Dimapur.

In a condolence message, Rio stated that late Konyak was not only his former colleague but was a close friend whom he found him to be sincere, hardworking, selfless, and a pacifist.

A person who always encouraged brotherhood and unity and having tirelessly worked for the welfare of the people especially those from the marginalized sections, Rio said late MC Konyak will be missed and added that the Eastern Nagaland people as well as the Nagas in general have lost another guardian.

Extending his condolences to the bereaved family members, Neiphiu Rio, prayed to the Almighty to give them courage and solace to bear the irreparable loss at the same time prayed for the eternal rest of the departed soul.
