One-day meeting of Headman/Chairman/Secretary of Village Authorities and CSO under Ukhrul District with State Authority, District Administration and Health Department of Ukhrul District discusses State Assembly Election 2022, MGNREGS, Covid-19 vaccination and others.

One-0day meeting on state assembly election 2022, MGNREGS, Covid-19 vaccination and others was organised by the Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul, District Election Officer, Ukhrul and Health Department of Ukhrul District at DRDA Hall, Ukhrul on Friday. Leaders from 97 villages participated in the meeting held on Friday at Ukhrul Headquarters.
Commissioner of Science & Technology, Government of Manipur, Devesh Deval urged the gathering to “identify the area where it has gone wrong and rectify the same for making “Safe Ukhrul” during election and after election. Beside free and fair elections, this time around there is another aspect which is “safe election”. He appealed to everyone to get vaccinated.
Director TA and Hills W Arthur Chiphang exhorted the populace of Ukhrul to get Covid-19 vaccination free of cost being provided by the Government at the earliest. He stated that in African countries there is a shortage of Covid-19 vaccine but here we are lucky to have enough Covid-19 vaccine for everyone.
President of Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL) Veronica Zingkhai stated “Don’t spread false propaganda about Covid-19 vaccine. “Let us not indulge in taking unnecessary decisions at village level without actually understanding the reality,” added Veronica Zingkhai.
ADC of Jessami Sub-Division, Kachamthai F Gangmei highlighted the forthcoming Manipur State Assembly Election 2022. He remarked “the District Administration has been preparing for the past 6 months for the successful conduct of State Assembly Election 2022. “Let us create an atmosphere where we can peacefully cast our vote and successfully conduct the forthcoming election,” he added.
ADC Ukhrul Sub-Division and PD of DRDA Ukhrul, Chunglenmang Kipgen spoke on MGNREGS and other developmental works. He informed that there will be no fresh issue of MGNREGA work order. However, the work order sanction already before the announcement of the model code of conduct would be taken up as usual. He informed the Village Authority under Jessami Block, Chingai Block, LM Block and Ukhrul Block to stop coming and requesting for issuing of fresh work order under MGNREGS.”
CMO of Ukhrul, Dr Kapangring A Shimray highlighted the progress of Covid-19 Vaccination. He informed that only 26% of eligible people from Ukhrul District have been vaccinated. Many populace of Ukhrul on the pretext of this illness and other ailments have not taken Covid-19 vaccination seriously. Only few have been vaccinated from Ukhrul District. We are yet to reach herd immunity and I appeal to everyone to extend their maximum cooperation to reach our target. On January 16, 2021, Covid-19 vaccination was first carried out in Ukhrul and only a few have been vaccinated. We will continue our effort so that everyone gets vaccinated at the earliest.”
He also informed that most of the death reports from Ukhrul District due to Covid-19 are unvaccinated. The only option available is to get vaccinated and be safe.
Dr Soreingam, Assistant Professor of JNIMS participated in the question hour and interaction hour and cleared the confusion raised by the participants.
Smart tablet phones were distributed to 10 ANM who were stationed at different Sub-Centre of Ukhrul District to successfully carry out their vaccination mission.
