Manipur on Saturday reported 717 new cases of COVID-19, out of a record 8,229 tests. The daily positivity rate dipped below 10 per cent for the first since the second wave of the pandemic hit the state. 8.71 per cent daily positivity rate was reported on Saturday.

The positive cases from the general population are 245 from Imphal West, 141 from Imphal East, 97 from Churachandpur, 84 from Thoubal, 47 from Kakching, 41 from Bishnupur, 23 from Chandel, 12 from Tamenglong, nine from Senapati, six from Ukhrul, five from Kangpokpi, three from Noney, and one each from Kamjong and Tengnoupal.
In the last 24 hours ending 5 pm Saturday, the State Level Covid 19 Deaths Audit Committee reported nine COVID-19 deaths. Four persons from Imphal East, three from Imphal West, and one each from Bishnupur and Kakching died at RIMS (3), JNIMS (2), Shija Hospital (2) and Babina (2).
As per the Health Department, on Saturday 740 persons were discharged, out of which 546 are from home isolation, 14 from RIMS and five from JNIMS and the rest 175 are from other COVID care facilities. The recovery rate is 81.82 per cent.
The total number of infections in the state has reached 54,407 and 872 total deaths.
Oxygen Status
According to the Health Department, in the last 24 hours, a total of 2163 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 985B- type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of Manipur.
