Congress interacts with fisherfolk of Loktak Lake on World Fisheries Day

Congress has demanded state government to “explain” where has Rs 20 crore, which was released for Manipur under PMMSY (Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana) for 2020-21 and 2021-22, gone.

Congress party, in Manipur, on Tuesday interacted with the fisherfolk settled in and around the Loktak Lake to observed World Fisheries Day, which is being celebrated all over the world on November 21, 2022.

The Congress team spent four hours with fisherwomen and fishermen in Loktak Lake and listened to their grievances and problems faced by them.

AICC National Vice Chairman of Fishermen Congress, Ningombam Bupenda Meitei, asserted that the Congress always stands for the fishing communities and for sustainable fishing production. Reiterating the vision for future of fisheries in India under the leadership of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, he said that the door of the Congress party is always open to the fishing communities and for a better and sustainable fisheries. The Congress team infused confidence to the fishermen and fisherwomen and encouraged them to share their grievances and needs to the state PCC.

AICC National Vice Chairman of All India Fishermen Congress Ningombam Bupenda Meitei raising voice for the fishing communities in Manipur and Northeast India, and demanding state government to “explain where has Rs 20 crore, which was released for Manipur under PMMSY (Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana) for 2020-21 and 2021-22, gone”.

The Congress team was led by All India Fishermen Congress National Vice Chairman Ningombam Bupenda Meitei. He was accompanied by senior office bearers of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee including MPCC General Secretaries Amir Hussain, Meghachandra Mangangcha, Wahidur Rahman, and Bishnupur DCC President Nur Rahman and Thanga BCC President N. Birababu.
