Essential COVID-19 relief materials were distributed on Monday to the fishing community of Champu-Khangpok floating village of Loktak by various organisations.
ALLAFUM, CSD, MRIS, MVHA, PRDA and TCS distributed 43 bags of rice, 5 bags of dal, 7 boxes of edible oil, 3 bags of salt and 160 pieces of soaps to the community.
The village is totally cut-off from the rest of Manipur due to COVID-19 induced lockdown and the nearby villagers were also allegedly blocking their lifeline. Due to this, the community had not been able to commute to places including Ningthoukhong, Toubokpi, Nachou, Potshangbam, Toubul, Bishnupur, among others, since July 23.
The fishing community expressed happiness towards the organisations and also prayed for a prosperous future for the organisations.
