Social Welfare director Ngangom Uttam emphasized on the need for a strong and friendly relationship between parents and children to prevent drug abuse.
District Administration Imphal East District & District Social Welfare officer, Imphal East in coordination with Apunba Luwangsangbam Clubs organised a programme on “Awareness on Prevention of Substance & Drug Abuse” at Luwangsanbam Makha Leikai Community Hall, Luwangsangbam on Tuesday.
Social Welfare director Ngangom Uttam, Kripa Foundation project director Ksh Jibanmala and Lamlai SDPO Kshetrimayum Ravikumar were the resource persons of the awareness programme, according to a DIPR Manipur release.
Uttam emphasized on the need for a strong and friendly relationship between parents and children to prevent drug abuse. Jibanmala spoke about the behavioral change which took place with children who are using drugs and the need to know the minute changes of behavior of their children. And Ravikumar highlighted the steps being taken up by the police and the need to make the people aware of the NDPS Act.
Imphal East Zilla Parishad adhyaksha P Bimola mentioned the strive by the chief minister on the “War on Drug” and appealed to all the members present to co-operate the state government’s effort to eliminate use of drugs. She further appealed to start from self, from our own family. And Imphal East DC Khumanthem Diana highlighted that there are pockets in Imphal East which are amongst the vulnerable ones, the release added.
Imphal East ADM Shamim Ahmad Shah, BDO Heingang CD Block Elangbam Amuthoi, personal secretary to chief minister Salam Rajen Singh, pradhan Sanjenbam Angou Singh, amongst others also attended the programme, the release added.
