Minister for Social Welfare and MAHUD Henry Okram on Wednesday inaugurated the 12th Annual Art Exhibition including Photography 2020 at Imphal Art College on Wednesday. The four-day long (March 17 -20, 2020) Art Exhibition including Photography 2020 is being organised by the Arts Society Manipur.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, Henry Okram stressed that Manipur is endowed with rich art and culture and has produced many acclaimed artists in various fields including sculpture, paintings, etc. He hoped that many artists would bring more laurels for the state in the national and international competitions, a DIPR Manipur release said.
Speaking about the exhibition, the minister said that such an exhibition creates a space for young artists to showcase their ideas, creativity, expressions and talents. After hearing the problems and grievances faced by the artists of the state, Henry Okram informed that he will apprise the situation to the chief minister N Biren Singh to look into the matter.
The minister appealed to the people of the state to collectively work for the development of various fields of Art in the state, the release added.
On the occasion, Henry Okram handed over the 12th Annual Art Award 2020 and honourable mention of the 12th Annual Art Award 2020 to Waribam Nelopal Devi and Sairem Satyajit Singh respectively.
