AMSU Human Resource Development (HRD) secretary Bruce Pebam urged the teaching community to find an alternative way other than cease-work strike, and added AMSU officially endorses the demand of the college teachers.
TFM Report
All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) on Monday announced that it will support the agitation by the college students demanding resumption of classes. AMSU also condemned the police “brutality” on the students of DM College of Arts, DM College of Science, DM College of Commerce, Imphal College and Manipur College.
Speaking to media persons at the AMSU Headquarters, AMSU Human Resource Development (HRD) secretary Bruce Pebam urged the teaching community to find an alternative way other than cease-work strike, and added AMSU officially endorses the demand of the college teachers.
Bruce also maintained that the agitation of the students might have been averted if the government had intervened timely. It is unfortunate that the students are being victimised due to the deadlock between the government and the teachers, he added.
The students have lost almost an academic session due to the prevailing situations induced by COVID-19. And when the situation has improved recently, it is unfortunate that classes could not be conducted properly, he lamented.
As many as 18 students sustained injuries after the police and students clashed on Monday. While the police resorted to mock bombs and tear gas, the students pelted stones towards the security forces.
