All Manipur Muslim (Meitei-Pangal) Welfare Association (AMMPWA) has once again drawn the attention of the state government to extend 4% reservation in favour of Meitei Pangal for admission to higher educational institutes.

In a press meet held on Tuesday at the Manipur Press Club, the AMMPWA said that during AMMPWA silver jubilee celebration in 2018 the association submitted a memorandum to the chief minister of Manipur on January 1, 2018 and on October 2, 2018 in the function where he attended as the chief guest.

Reservation for OBC should include general education also not limited to professional and technical education as per the judgment of the Supreme Court in Indra Shauny case 1992 which is a famous case in the legal circle.

AMMPWA reiterates its demand, among others, to extend the reservation of the OBC including specifying 4% reservation for Meitei-Pangal in the admission of students for the general courses in all the educational institutions of Manipur, government as well as private, as a policy of the state government at the earliest. The demands of the CSOs for the same which have been in the news recently in local media is a long-standing serious demand of the AMMPWA, it contended.
